Priorities

I believe that local bodies, including the Dane County Board, are our line of defense against the Republican-supported rogue federal government under Trump. I will use my County Board platform to defend our neighbors from Trump’s attacks on progressive communities and leverage the creativity and resilience of Dane County to provide solutions to the problems Trump is creating.

Here are my priorities for the Dane County Board:

• Support pro-housing policies that help more people find stable, affordable homes

• Support a stronger social safety net and work to create robust public aid for legal services to residents in tenant-landlord housing disputes and other civil matters

• Work to control the property tax burden, which increases housing costs for everyone, and work to make sure that tax revenue is fairly distributed

• Protect our immigrant neighbors by investing in the Office of Immigration Affairs and resisting cooperation with rogue federal agents 

• Defend against attacks on voting rights by eliminating fees for vital records and allowing out-of-state IDs for voter identity verification 

• Be a good steward of our environment—especially the lakes and groundwater that are central to our community’s identity and quality of life

My goal for Dane county is to foster an inclusive community built by the success of our neighbors and defending the freedoms, values, and resources that make our community special!
